POSH? nah sweetheart I’m a Commoner
POSH is doing the rounds. It’s a nice “AJAX” style jargonistic acronym that can be used by people who don’t really know enough, when either selling or buying the stuff that people, who do get it, do and deserve to be paid handsomely for.
Until recently that was not an easy task.
I remember when AJAX first hit, reading posts or emails from people describing “Awesome AJAX UI’s” only to look behind the scenes and find there wasn’t any XMLHttpRequests going on, and in fact it was just good ole’ fashioned DHTML. But really, how boring could 5 letters actually be - DHTML. I don’t know why (I think it’s the D and the H together) it makes me just feel depressed. Now AJAX… Hooray, we all love AJAX !!!!
Anyway. So it’s being called POSH. I’m not convinced it’ll flourish, although Tantek is the master of spinning the simple into great things, so maybe it will get legs.
Personally, I like to think of my work as less POSH and more as a COMMONER (completely ordinary markup maybe only now enumeratively rewarded).
We’ll just have to wait and see.
